John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Hello, Altered Stories Ministry Family,

This Sunday we are celebrating Father’s Day. It is a day to highlight the important role that Father’s play in our lives and raising the next generation.

For some, this day reflects on some loving men who did well in being a dad, but for others, this day only reminds them of some deep wounds that their Father’s or a lack of a Father, caused.

In my case, I honestly fall in the second category. It is to this group I want to speak.

I truly wish you had a good childhood with a loving dad, because the consequences of not having a Father who showed you what it looked like to be raised to know you were loved and taken care of can be so damaging.

If you have issues from abuse, abandonment, or any number of wounds that can be caused from deep Father pain, then let me tell you this. In the word it says that “God is a Father to the Fatherless“. Psalm 68:5. While this might be hard to digest because you may struggle to accept God as a Father, I am finding that He doesn’t shy away from the challenge of showing you who He truly is, and what that looks like in your life.

What if this Father’s Day we approach God and ask Him to show us what a good Father looks like? What if we open up and be honest with God about that struggle? Who knows? We just might find some healing in the process.

I hope this helps,

God bless,

Teresa
