Hello, Altered Stories Ministry Family.

I want to begin this blog with a huge congratulations to Altered Stories Ministry for 7 years as a Nonprofit organization in ministry! Writing for this ministry has been an honor and a privilege.

As we celebrate Valentine’s Day soon, I wanted to ask when you think of love, what comes to mind? Hearts, chocolate candy? Maybe, taking your spouse on a date? However, God’s love is so much more.

I am reminded of the old DC talk song that reminds us that love is a verb.

In 1 Corinthians 13, we see all the characteristics of love, such as it being patient, kind it is not self-seeking, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. These things are things we choose to do, not just feelings. We can choose to be proud, or boast, or be self-seeking, or we can love.

Our Lord Jesus said in John 13:35 “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Sometimes, it is extremely hard to love others, because let’s face it, people can be difficult. Trust me, our Lord gets this, and yet he showed us the blueprint when he died on the cross for our sins.

I remember when I was in a situation being tested, I asked the Lord about the situation, and he said,” knowing what you know about this person, will you love her?” I had to answer that question. I am guessing that you may have been placed in a similar situation at one time.  If so, I encourage you to give the love chapter a read and ask God to help you to love out his strength and not your own.

 God bless,

Teresa
