Hello, Altered Stories Ministry Family,

This week people will celebrate Earth Day, where in many cases they will worship the creation over the creator. As it is spoken of in Romans 1:25 “people will exchange the truth of God for a lie and worshiped the creation rather than the creator.”

While I could go on about this and how we do not want to take part in this kind of practice, I want to shift my thoughts about this in a slightly different direction.

How else are we trading God’s truth for a lie, and worshiping a creation over the Creator?

How about our need to be surrounded by technology and the artificial rather than taking some time to get out in nature and see God’s handy work or put the screens down and have some real face-to-face time with real human beings.

In one of my songs that I have written for our band “A Ragged Thread”, I talk about this. The song is “Screen Time”. Because the truth is that no matter how many people you have follow you online, or how many friends you have or how much time you spend swiping on the screens, that void, that need to mend your brokenness will never be met by the artificial or fake life that technology offers.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the use of technology.  However, I do know that sometimes we have to make sure technology isn’t using us and it hasn’t become our latest addiction.

This week don’t worship at the altar of the artificial. Go outside and put down your screens and let God speak to you as only he can.

God bless,

Teresa
