Hello Altered Stories Family,
As we just celebrated the fourth of July and the birth of America, I have seen clips on social media that show people do not know what July 4th is, and why we celebrate the holiday.
As sad as this is, I think the even more frustrating fact is many people do not know or understand the freedom we have in Christ. For example, many believe we must work our way to God even though Jesus died for our sins. Sorry to say, but this kind of thinking is faulty.
You see, the word is clear that all our works are like filthy rags. Yes, we have trusted in Yeshua Jesus for our forgiveness, but somehow we think we must work our way to God for the rest. Granted, God does command us to be Holy as He is Holy, but He also understands that we are dust, and can in ourselves never be Holy.
This is where our freedom comes in. We are free of the death penalty that we deserve. We are freed by Christ’s blood. Because of this, we can strive daily to walk in his way and we get to make choices to honor Him in our lives. We have the extreme honor to spend time with Him, to come freely before His throne, and we can pray to the Father. What a privilege!
Let us not forget this. Not only do we have freedom here in America, but as a follower of Yeshua Jesus we are free to walk by his spirit, living his way, and by his voice.
