In this Episode, I interview special guest, Karen Whiting. Karen is an author of 30 plus books. She has served as a contributing writer for Focus on the Family’s parenting magazine and writes for families at Crosswalk.com. She is a widow, mom of 5, traveler, speaks for women’s groups, retreats, schools, and at Mother-Daughter events. In our authentic conversation, Karen shares her inspiring and faith building God story as a survivor of a major Miami hurricane and other natural disasters. She also shares how God used her in her circumstances to minister to her children, neighbors and others in her community. In addition, she shares her story of how Jesus spoke to her and guided her steps as a survivor to encourage others who encounter unexpected crisis in their lives.

Karen shares her “Surviving the Unexpected” God Story.
Her God story began when she had five children. Her husband was away on military orders and their area was hit by a category 4 hurricane. Their home took a direct hit from a tornado.
They turned the disaster into a God-honoring thing by being the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around them.
The first hurricane and natural disaster she remembered hit when she was around 8 years old.
The Lord provided things they didn’t even know they needed.
Karen shares some of the scriptures that ministered to her family during the natural disasters they experienced.
When disasters happen, see who else you can help and who needs help.
When you are helping others you are too busy to think about yourself and your situation.
Karen is an established author and has written 30 books with multiple publishers.
One of her new books is called Growing a Mother’s Heart and it has joyful stories, stories of struggles, and more.
We need the mom support from others and the stories that bring us hope. Stories bring us together.
When you grow up leaning on God and saying no matter what happens God is with me, it is so much easier to go through trying times.
