In this Episode, I feature special guest, Laurie Soileau Schlisner. She is a certified Life Coach, author, artist, and gardener with a singular mission: Cultivating thriving in people and nature by honoring their unique blueprint. She considers herself blessed to have had a solo art show and exhibited in several group shows, with a number of commissioned works in private collections around the southeast. Laurie’s faith and family are her top priorities. She and husband, Grant enjoy collaborative play outdoors and in woodcraft, Celtic music, and beekeeping. They live in Nashville, Tennessee and are moving to coastal Scotland. In our authentic conversation, Laurie shares her “Restored for Resilience” God story. As the black sheep artist –with undiagnosed ADHD–in a family of brilliant scientists, Laurie shares how she felt deeply insecure and misunderstood growing up. She shares how she had a crisis of faith and how after two marriages, more decades, two painful marriages and two wonderful daughters, God restored her to resilience, thriving, and living life to the fullest. In closing, she shares uplifting encouraging and ministering words to help those who are in a crisis of faith, due to life’s circumstances and who feel misunderstood to help them bloom, and thrive in their lives.
This Episode also includes a mental health tip from ministry partner and licensed mental health counselor, Sherrie Pucket,

- These real people’s stories are right there to remind us we can actually walk through these dark times and come out okay. Suffering is part of our life and faith as humans.
- Resilience doesn’t always look like flourishing. Sometimes it looks like the dieback, the wilting down, the wilderness moments, the silence, and the questioning but God is always restoring.
Bio
Laurie Soileau Schlisner is a certified Life Coach, artist, and gardener with a singular mission: Cultivating thriving in people and nature by honoring their unique blueprint. Appropriately, her work is collectively branded “Bloom.” Laurie’s writing reveals deep wells of experience and a fierce determination to live fully despite life’s obstacles. Laurie’s own path to deeper engagement and meaningful impact became clear as she faced suffering head-on, coming to grips with the dichotomies of friction and peace, proactivity, and trust such a path entails. With a renewed sense of awe and wonder, her approach to work, people, and nature is as an explorer, seeking out unexpected treasures and often-overlooked beauty, relishing the transcendence that awaits the patient observer. Laurie’s encouragement to others is this: Discover your unique [e.g. God-given] blueprint, and you’ll find life simpler, more sustainable, impactful, and vibrant. Discover the Designer, and you’ll find everything else you seek. Despite insatiable curiosity and myriad interests, Laurie’s faith and family are her top priorities. She and her husband Grant enjoy collaborative play outdoors and in woodcraft, Celtic music, and beekeeping, ever dreaming of more time with their grown children Kelli, Katherine, Jackson, and Graceann. Living in Nashville, Tennessee, they have eyes on coastal Scotland.”
