John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Hello, Altered Stories Ministry Family,

As we are looking to the day we know as Independence Day, I’m reminded of an interview I recently listened to this past week.  Dan Bongino did an interview with Drago Dzarien, an immigrant who came from Poland when it was under communist rule and came to America as an asylum seeker. He then earned his citizenship and chose to serve our country as a navy seal.

Why, because he knew how much freedom costs, and he wanted to give something back to the country that gave him his freedom.

In the same way, as we celebrate our freedom as a country.  As believers we have an even greater freedom, that being what we have in Christ. This freedom is eternal, not just from oppression from a ruler, but we are free from the curse of sin, because of Christ’s death on the cross, and resurrection three days later.

Because of this freedom, we as believers hold two citizenships; our country and we are citizens of God’s Kingdom.

So, this Fourth of July, as we have fun at the picnics and fireworks, and all the rest, take a moment to thank God for the freedom from sin that you have in our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are reading this, and you do not have that freedom, or don’t know what I’m talking about, it is as simple as A B C.

A – Admit that you are a Sinner, in need of God’s forgiveness.

B – Believe that Christ is who he says he is, God’s son, and Lord. That he came to die on the cross, he lived the perfect life that we cannot live, and he rose again on the third day. He is also coming back in bodily form, to set his Kingdom up here on the Earth.

C – Confess him as your Savior and your Lord. The Bible says if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

The Bible also says that “if anyone is free in Christ, then they are free indeed.” John 8:36

I hope that this reflection on the freedom we truly have in Christ Jesus is helpful to you.

God Bless,

Teresa
