John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Hello Altered Stories Family,

This month, I wanted to tackle the subject of Shalom, which in Hebrew means peace.  However, peace is not the only meaning of the word.  Among others it can mean complete welfare, or prosperity, wholeness, harmony, and wellness.

Does the word Shalom bring a lot more meaning when Yeshua Jesus said that his peace he gives to us, his peace he leaves with us? How often do we live life uncomplete? How many times do we act outside of the Shalom of God?

There have been many times I have woke agitated or annoyed by small things. I do not have the Shalom of God.

Of course God shows me this, most often after I’ve torn someone up with my words, or acted in anything other than peace.

Does this not bring new meaning to the idea of be at peace with all men?

Knowing the rest of Shalom’s meaning, it could be said we are called to be complete or whole with all men.  Shalom also has the idea of restitution.

So when we look at the riots, and the destruction being brought to our streets, we see a group or groups of people who are not at peace.  This is why we are commanded to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and to pray for the peace of our leadership.

Let us pray that God would bring complete wholeness, wellness, and restoration to us, and then to our country.

I should add, that this complete understanding of Shalom also brings a deeper meaning to the idea of being at peace with God, so that we can have the peace of God in our lives.

Think about a moment, when we have peace with God, this means we are complete, lacking nothing, we are whole, because he lives in us, and we are restored through the blood of Yeshua Jesus through his death on the cross.

If you do not know this kind of peace, then I challenge you to seek it out, and pray to him now. In your prayer you can admit you are a Sinner, and that you need his forgiveness.  You can also admit that you cannot earn your way into his Kingdom, or into Heaven, and that you accept his death on the cross.  I encourage you to tell God that you believe he died, and was raised from the dead, and that he will return again to bring 1000 year reign of complete Shalom.

Shalom is also used in Hebrew to say hello or goodbye so with that, I will end this article.

Until next time.

Shalom.

Teresa
