Hello Altered Stories Family.
As I write, we are in Thanksgiving Day week, a time for family food and football. And yet, even as we gather around our Thanksgiving Day table, for some of you there may not be much to be thankful for, or so it appears. There might be many stressful things, or maybe you just endured a tragedy, or maybe these kinds of holidays drag out old memories you would rather leave forgotten.
Believe me, I do understand. I’m not a huge fan of the holiday season in general. Yet, we cannot forget how God has intervened in our lives now and in the past. If you’re a believer, you have plenty to be thankful for; you have the breath of life in your lungs, you have eternal salvation.
So even if everything around you goes to garbage, cry out to God, and remember to thank Him for what He has done. Giving thanks does not mean that you can’t take your frustrations and the things that are completely stressing you out to God because He wants to hear from you.
I do not write this as though I have arrived because as I write things are going on in my life that is causing no end to our trouble. But, it’s no good to focus on those things; instead, let’s focus on the God giving us everything and who only wants our love in return. Psalm 136:1 (NIV) “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.”
Oh yes, don’t forget to enjoy your time with your family and a football game or two.
Thankful for you!
